Cravings 2: The Recap
I’ve officially crossed the finish line with Book #3. What a decadent trip it has been! There’s not much to go on about with this book. It’s PRETTY awesome. The recipes were delicious, easy, and a little cheeky. I also thought it struck the perfect balance between meals for a crowd and dishes that were a bit more manageable for two.
Here are my favorite recipes from Cravings 2, in no particular order.
1) Coconut Short Rib Curry
This might actually be my #1 favorite from the book. It was SO delicious and definitely crave-worthy. I’ll be revisiting this one very often. Honorable mention goes to the rest of the Thai Mom chapter. The fish cakes!? Ooo baby..
2) Soft Pretzels
I nixed Chrissy’s toppings and made a classic salted version. I also highly preferred her method of dipping the dough in the baking soda + water bath. The water was still very hot, but I found doing it this way vs. a boiling pot of water gave me much more control over the shape of the pretzels, and they still turned out beautifully brown. No pic for this one- sometimes you just gotta dig in!
3) Banh Mi
So far, every book I’ve cooked through/featured has had a Banh Mi recipe. Easily one of my favorite go-to dinners. My boyfriend and I make these once a week, and we usually use a variation of Chrissy’s recipe mixed with Andrea Nguyen’s.
4) Crispy Bacon & Sweet Pickle Patty Melt
Did I mention this book has been a pretty decadent ride? Here’s a reminder.
5) Sheet Pan Cream & Thyme Roasted Onions
This past Thanksgiving my friend’s and I made so many of the recipes from Cravings 2. The day I got the book in the mail I immediately bookmarked a handful that screamed Thanksgiving feast to me. The carrots, the jalapeno corn pudding, these friggin ONIONS, and more.. These onions have a permanent spot on my Thanksgiving table.
